UNC basketball reportedly wastes no time contacting 5-star transfer target
Several schools have reached out to the Arkansas playmaker.
Another day, another transfer target for the UNC basketball team? That’s how things are looking when it comes to guard Boogie Fland. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Fland was taking himself out of the NBA Draft process and that he’ll be back for one more season of college hoops.
When he first entered the draft, Fland retained his college eligibility. With him projected to be a mid second-round pick, this decision makes sense. With that said, he’s a stud playmaker and several teams are working to land him. According to Inside Carolina, the Tar Heels have already made contact with him too. Could a visit be in the works soon?
North Carolina has contacted 5-star Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland
Props to Inside Carolina for being all over this, as it usually is. Fland is coming off a strong year for John Calipari and Arkansas. During the 2024-25 campaign, the 6-2, 175-pounder from Bronx, N.Y. averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 assists per game.
According to the 247Sports rankings, he’s the No. 1 combo guard in the transfer portal for this cycle and the No. 8 player overall. There’s plenty of speculation that Florida is going to be a serious player in his new recruitment, which is something to keep an eye on.
As for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels, finding wing help continues to be a focus. Hearts are still broken over Andrej Stojakovic spurning UNC once again, this time deciding to sign with Illinois after he had the Heels among his finalists. It just wasn’t meant to be there.
European wing Ivan Kharchenkov, a 6-6 standout for Bayern Munich, is a name that continues to be discussed quite a bit. From our chair, he’d be an exciting get this late in the process. The same could be said for Fland, who is going to help his next team out quite a bit on both ends of the floor. Will UNC heat things up in terms of its recruiting efforts? We should find out more soon.
