Some things are just awesome, baby! That is what today’s recent news from Dick Vitale can be described as. The legendary college basketball analyst came out with some uplifting news regarding his ongoing battle with cancer, which he has fought for so long.

Dick Vitale took to his X account to tell the world that his new scans and blood work show that is is cancer free and continuing to prevail in his fight.

“Hi everybody, Dick Vitale. Well, I just got my report from Dr. Rick Brown. Yes, the report came in about my scan I took yesterday and my bloodwork. I am ecstatic, I’m on cloud nine. He said, ‘The bloodwork was perfect,’ and he also said the four words you love to hear, ‘You’re cancer free, baby!'” Vitale said in his post.

“It brought me to tears when they delivered it because, as cancer patients, you know that call is a nerve-wracking time. It’s life-changing,” continued Vitale.

Dick Vitale, the long-time announcer for ESPN and their college basketball product, returned to action last year after a hiatus caused by his battle with cancer. His return was triumphant and gave the college basketball world an old familiar voice full of commentary only he can make.

Vitale, the 41-year veteran of ESPN, has been around the game for all his life. At 85 years old, the former Seton Hall player, Detroit Pistons head coach, and current announcer gets to continue his passion for college basketball while providing fans with his legendary quotes.
