Former UConn men’s basketball guard Aidan Mahaney has committed to play at UC Santa Barbara.
UConn transfer Aidan Mahaney tells me that he has committed to UC Santa Barbara.
Mahaney spent just one season with the Huskies after transferring in from St. Mary’s out of the West Coast Conference. The Huskies hoped Mahaney would come in and average close to the 13.9 points he averaged at St. Mary’s, filling a void left when Cam Spencer graduated.
Instead, Mahaney came off the bench for most of the season, playing behind Hassan Diarra. Mahaney entered the NCAA transfer portal a couple of weeks after UConn’s season-ending loss to eventual national champion Florida.
Mahaney averaged 12.3 minutes and 4.5 points per game. Mahaney also had 44 assists and seven steals for the Huskies.
UC Santa Barbara is a member of the Big West Conference. The Gauchos finished in fifth place.
