With NBC set to once again cover the NBA once again, another former UNC basketball legend is set to be on the broadcasting team.

Carter, a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, will be a studio analyst for NBC Sports this fall. According to the official announcement from NBC, Carter will be in the studio one or more nights a week through the playoffs when the NBA returns to NBC and debuts on Peacock in October.
The NBC network broadcasted NBA games from 1990 to 2002, but hasn’t been included in the mix for quite some time. Leading up to the 2025-2026 season, NBC and the NBA have agreed to an 11-year deal to bring the sport back to the network, a move that already has a lot of people excited.
In NBC’s official press release, Carter spoke about how excited he is to fulfill this new role:
“I could not be more excited and appreciative to have the opportunity to be a part of the historic return of the NBA to NBC and now Peacock. I am truly looking forward to joining Melo in the studio and the rest of the broadcast team overall, as we embark on bringing NBA fans best-in-class coverage of the league they love.”
This is exciting news for fans of the UNC basketball program. Fans will have the opportunity to watch the G.O.A.T AND Vinsanity covering the sport of basketball, as both former Tar Heels have quite the resume to back up their thoughts and opinions on the current state of the National Basketball Association.
