There is no denying that Hubert Davis quietly has one of the best transfer portal classes this season and the best one that UNC basketball has ever seen. He has added tremendously to the frontcourt, while the backcourt could now use some attention. One addition to the portal early on was North Dakota guard Treysen Eaglestaff.
He committed early to South Carolina and as of Wednesday, has announced his decommittment and re-entrance into the portal. After pure shooters RJ Davis exhausted eligibility and Ian Jackson hit the transfer portal, the Tar Heels could be in need of someone Eaglestaff’s caliber.
247Sports analyst Isaac Trotter had high praise for Eaglestaff, “Treysen Eaglestaff is a rangy, 6-foot-6 wing who may have had to take the toughest shots in basketball last year. He was constantly forced to bail out North Dakota’s offense. When he’s cooking, Eaglestaff can put up bonkers stat lines, like a 40-burger against Alabama.”
Eaglestaff is a four-star transfer with a 94 rating on 247Sports. Last season with the Fighting Hawks, he averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He shot 41.6 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Hubert Davis hasn’t totally neglected the need, however; he has brought in former West Virginia shooter Jonathan Powell and Colorado State guard Kyan Evans. Despite those additions, someone like Eaglestaff could be just the piece that Hubert Davis needs to complete and well-rounded portal, and they need to make further contact.
