Fans are eagerly awaiting the day that Caleb Wilson puts on the North Carolina Blue and steps on the court for the first time for a regular season game.

The 6-foot-9 big man should immediately provide depth in the front court and excel as another big body on the defensive boards and with rim protection.

With Wilson’s length, frame and natural talent at the all-too young age of 18, it’s no surprise that projected NBA lottery teams are salivating over the opportunity to add him to their roster as soon as possible with the expectation that he’ll continue to develop into a versatile front-court star.

A break from the NBA Draft to the first-look of Caleb Wilson at UNC.

That’s why several 2026 NBA Draft mocks have Wilson as a lottery pick and most have him inside the Top 10. ESPN’s first 2026 mock had Wilson going at No. 8, but that was a couple of months ago. It will probably be updated over the weekend.

On3 has Wilson going ninth overall and FanSided has Wilson slotted at No. 11. The scouting reports from most sites seem to be consistent. Wilson should offer plenty of immediate help on the rim and several other areas as a true freshman next season.
