The Dallas Mavericks were the big winners of Monday’s 2025 NBA Draft lottery held in Chicago, winning the top overall pick, which will very likely be Duke’s Cooper Flagg. The Mavericks had a 1.8 percent chance to win the top pick and after trading Luka Doncic, the franchise has a quick chance to draft another potential star.

With the draft lottery complete and the order set, ESPN quickly released an updated mock draft with projections for every pick.

For North Carolina, they have just one player selected of 59 total picks in the updated mock from Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo. North Carolina’s Drake Powell is mocked to go to the Boston Celtics at No. 32 overall in a pick that originally belonged to the Washington Wizards.

Powell’s stock has been climbing since he arrived on UNC’s campus and games began in the Fall. He’s a fringe first-round pick depending on what mock you look at. His stock is good enough that he’s solely focused on the draft rather than returning to the program for a second season.

The forward averaged 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 48.3 percent from the field.
